Dutch Competition

Ajax quite easily won the First Division West II competition and the relatively small difference with the number 2 De Volewijckers is partly explained by the fact that Ajax last the home game against De Volewijckers after it had already won the competition. We are not implying that Ajax was unbeatable and would have won easily otherwise, because eventhough Ajax only dropped 5 points in the division competition, Ajax didn't stand a chance in the champions competition. With 4 wins and 6 losses, Ajax ended in the 4th spot, a long distance from the new domestic champion SV Limburgia.

Beker

It seems Ajax did not participate in the Dutch Cup competition. Possibly because the schedule was already full because of participation in the champions competition.

Lineup

The following players were used a lot: Ad van de Pol (goalkeeper), Jan Potharst and Ger Beumer (defense), Cor van der Hoeven, Cor van der Hart en Joop Stoffelen (midfield and stopper spil), Jan Los, Rinus Michels, Gerard Bruins, Ge van Dijk, and Guus Dräger (attack). Joop Stoffelen was captain. Ad van de Pol was the new number 1 goalkeeper, although Ajax started with Bep Leentvaar (3) en Jan Vinck (2) also defended the goal. Gerrit Fischer lost his position in the squad to Jan Los due to an injury, but wasn't always used when he was recovered. Theo Brokmann Jr. also frequently played in attack. The following players also played official matches: Gerrit Krist (6), Ger van Mourik (3), Ken Taylor (2), Hans Boskamp (1), Wim Huis (1) en Jan Looyen (1).

Walter Crook was the trainer.

New Competition Setup

The First Division Clubs got together before the start of the season and launched the plan to change to a setup of 4 groups with 15 teams each. In the end it became 14 teams and this was changed into two phases. The season 1950-51 was done with 5 groups of 12 teams and starting from 1951-52 it was 4 groups of 14 teams.

Gerrit Fischer

Gerrit Fischer missed a large part of the season due to a knee injury.

Ken Taylor

Ken Taylor appears in a lineup for a match as center forward and it is mentioned he played as midfielder several times in the previous season, but we did not find his name in any match reports.

There was a celebration week honoring Ajax' fiftieth birthday, with amongst other activities a general meeting where one honorarty member and several members of merit were chosen, and a golden book was presented. Also an exhibition, a reception, a revue, and a match against Feyenoord were part of the program. The so-called bordjes club of members of at least 25 year also came together.
