Dutch Competition

Ajax won the First Division West I competition by a large margin. In the second round Ajax lost, but afterwards Ajax had a long winning streak that only finished in the last round, when Ajax lost its second game, but by then the division championship was won already. Ajax finished with 10 points ahead of VSV and 11 ahead of Feyenoord, who played in the same league as Ajax, for a chance. The subsequent champions competition had never been more close: Ajax, KFC and Willem II together end up on first place. Ajax had a better goal difference, but the regulations indicated this would not be decisive for the championship, so decisive matches were necessary. In the first two matches Ajax and KFC were both able to beat Willem II and in the last match KFC was leading with 2-0 by half time. Ajax scored the 2-1 early in the second half, but took until the last minutes to make the equalizer. Because Ajax had won with a larger margin from Willem II than KFC had, and because goal difference was decisive for the decision matches, Ajax was the new domestic champion.

Beker

We have not been able to find any information of participation of Ajax in the Dutch Cup tournamenet. Possibly that Ajax didn't enter or withdrew.

Lineup

Because Strijbosch had left and Ajax was still looking for a suitable leftback there were again some chances in the lineup. Besides that Piet van Reenen was injured at the start of the season and his replacement Piet Oudendijk performed so well that a place was created for him in the attack. Later in the season the following starting lineup was used: Gerrit Keizer (goalkeeper), Jan van Diepenbeek and Joop van de Puttelaar (defense), Piet van Deyck, Wim Anderiesen Sr. and Jan Schubert (midfield and stopper spil), Bob ten Have, Wim Volkers, Piet van Reenen, Piet Oudendijk, and Henk Mulders (attack). Wim Volkers was captain. Joop Vis (2) was the goalkeeper pre-season, but Gerrit Keizer quickly became the first choice when the competition started. After previously having played in attack Henk Blomvliet (6) also played in defense several matches. George Koning (7) and Erwin van Wijngaarden (9) played in attacked a number of matches. The following players also played official matches: Wim Hangard (7), Ko Loois (7), Cor Jurriaans (6), Gerard Doon (4), Hennie Loois (4), Gerrit Gischler (2), Piet Vunderink (2), Jan Elzenga (1), and Jan Stam (1).

Coach

Jack Reynolds was the trainer.

Gerrit Keizer

Because it was three years ago that Gerrit Keizer was professional soccer player in England, the Dutch Soccer Association considered him an amateur again, thus making it possible for him to play for Ajax again.

De Meer

Early December there was finally an agreement between Ajax and the city council about a piece of land that could be used to build a new stadium. They agreed on a period of 25 years (with optional 15 years extra) for a rental fee of 7000 guilders per year. Besides the stadium, the city would make sure the roads would be extended where necesssary and there would be sufficient parking places available. The total costs for the city were estimated on 70000 guilders. The stadium was initially planned to seat 20000.

Ko and Hennie Loois

This seasons Ko and Hennie Loois played for Ajax. They came over from a club from the Amsterdam soccer association, it is not known to us which club exactly. The lineups typically only mentioned that Loois was playing which meant we had no good idea whether it was Hennie or Ko, which makes this information unreliable.
