De Ligt and Nouri in the Record Lists

09/22/2016

Matthijs de Ligt and Abdelhak Nouri placed themselves on the list of players who scored during their official debut. Matthijs de Ligt even became the youngest player who has ever done so (we started to keep track of this at the start of the Eredivisie in 1956). Abdelhak Nouri can be found a little lower on the list, but we can hardly blame him, it is of course more caused by Bosz, but especially Frank de Boer, that he had to wait so long for his debut.
It is unprecedented that two youth players simultaneously made their debut and scored in an official match for Ajax 1 (thanks Norman Mazel!). Though there is a match during which even three players made their debut and scored, although these were all more experienced (Rudy, Oliseh and Arveladze).
De Ligt is not the youngest official debutant or youngest scorer, Clarence Seedort beat him on both lists (but although Seedorf was both a younger debutant and a younger goal scorer, he did not score during his debut). Since we currently only keeping these two statistics for Eredivisie matches it is not clear where exactly De Ligt is positioned.
With regard to the starting lineup of the Cup match against Willem II, the game does not take a very special place. The presence of older players like Schö ne, Westermann and Boer, make sure the game does not score high on the list of games with the youngest starting lineup. For the list of matches with most inexperienced basis (based on number of games played for Ajax 1) this match is reasonably high as you would expect with position 19, but there are several matches from the past 5 years that had an even less experienced starting lineup.
