After having become the undefeated division and domestic champion in the previous season, this season Ajax ends at the 5th position in the First Division West. Ajax misses Frits Terwee on the midfield who left to HFC Haarlem and misses Jan de Natris (the first 3 months) and Hein Delsen (the complete season) because of suspension, which undoubtedly contributed to the disappointing result. Besides the suspensions Gupffert and Van Dort are faced with injuries. VOC becomes the division champion just before HBS, but in the champions competition finishes only second after Be Quick.
It seems Ajax did not participate in the Dutch Cup competition. It is unclear whether this was because Ajax choose not to participate or whether the first division teams were excluded.
Because of suspensions and injuries there is not really a lineup which was used for a lot of matches. The following players often played in matches: Jan Smit (goal), Frans Couton and Fons Pelser (defense), Henk Hordijk, Joop Pelser, and André de Kruijff (midfield and stopper spil), Jan de Natris, Joop van Dort, Theo Brokmann Sr., Wim de Bois and Frans de Haan (forward). Joop Pelser is captain. Hein Delsen is suspended for the complete season and Wim Gupffert is injured for a large part of the season. Furthermore Ajax is faced with the departure of Frits Terwee and the long suspension of Jan de Natris, and several injuries. Ajax does not have success with finding suitable replacements so that a lot of changes are made. Besides the above mentioned squad the following players also play in official matches: Wim Gupffert (11), Joop Bieshaar (9), Sjaak Hoogland (8), Kick Geudeker (3), Jaap Knol (3), Cor Andriesse (2), Wim van Raan (2), Joop Martens (1), Ger Kooge (1), Jan Grootmeijer (1) and Jan Goosen (1).

Now that the war is over the discussion about mixing the two first divisions West starts again. The A division takes the stand that they will spit off from the soccer association if they are forced to mix with the B division. The committee that had as job to come with a suggestion is blamed not only by the A division clubs that they did not take the wishes of the A divisions clubs into consideration sufficiently. In the end the first division West B is changed into a transition division between the first and second division west.
On 30 augustus Ajax held the general meeting. Without being specific it was mentioned that there were loud discussions and various grievances. The following persons were elected: president W.F Egeman, 2nd president H.D. Dade, 1st secretary J.J. Grootmeijer, 2nd secretary J. Pelser, 1st treasurer J. Oudheusden, 2nd treasurer F. de Haan, committee members Jan Schoevaart, Theo Brokmann Sr., S. Tump. Squad committee: Frans Schoevaart, P. van Os, G. Ziegeler, and S. Tump, enquiry committee: H.D. Dade, Egeman, Holst, Westenberg and Van Os, audit committee: De Waal, Gunzel, and Stallmann, Grootmeijer as representative for Het Gouden Hoofd. In total the home games of Ajax were visited by 158724 people.
November 8 1919 Karel van der Lee, former player and honory member of Ajax, returns from Indonesia and Ajax holds a small celebration in his honor.
