Ajax starts the emergency competition (noodcompetitie) not withstanding a mostly new squad with 8 wins, while other teams loose a lot of points. Only AFC is able to keep up. Ajax follows with 2 draws and has 20 points after 11 matches. AFC had one loss, but because their opponent, the Military, withdraws, that loss is removed, and AFC has also two draws so that the losspoints are the same, but they have played 3 matchess less than Ajax. When AFC looses subsequent matches and looses the double confrontation with Ajax, Ajax is champion 3 rounds before the end. Afterwards Ajax wins one more match, but the last two matches, that are played a lot later, are lost. The result of the De Spartaan - VVA match is unknown. Latest we found out that it was scheduled on May 13 1915, but nothing about the result. Could be that one of the teams forfeited. We did not include any result of this match in the final standings.
Ajax participates in the Dutch Cup, but looses the first match, that is only played in March, from EDO. Ajax' team plays well in the competition at that time, unbeaten, and EDO plays at a lower level. Not much is known about the match, so also not whether there is any special cause, or if Ajax perhaps did not play with their first squad. The competition has a knockout phase, but it seems before the start a subdivision in groups is established.
Many players let know at the start of the season that they will no longer play for Ajax, so that the team undergoes big changes. Not much information is available about the lineups of the matches, but on basis of what is known this seems to be the most used lineup: Gerard Ziegeler (goalkeeper), Frans Schoevaart, Freek Gehrels (defense) Henk Hordijk, Joop Pelser, and Frits Terwee (midfield and stopper spil), Jan de Natris, Jan-Willem Lucas, Theo Brokmann Sr., Rinus Lucas and Andre Maassen (attack).
It is not known who was the trainer this season. Probably Ajax did not have a professional trainer this season. In a newspaper article in 1925, looking back at the 25 year history of Ajax, it was confirmed that Kirwan was trainer until 1914 and shortly thereafter was replaced by Reynolds.
On july 6th there is another general meeting. During this meeting 3 boardmembers (Schutte, Hemmes, and Fetter) decide to step down, and during a new board election the following are elected: J. Grootmeijer as 1st secretary, D.R. Rixke as 1st treasurer, H.D. Dade as 2nd president, while Holst becomes a committee member. It is also announced that the committee successfully resolved the issues and everyone is willing to play for Ajax again. It is doubtful whether this information is correct, because in September it seems a number of former Ajax 1 players play a few matches under the name AVC (Amsterdams Voetbal Combinatie), of whom a number later transfer to UVV. It is also announced that a new trainer will be hired, but noone is mentioned by name and earlier reports indicated Ajax would not continue with John Kirwan, and that a trainingcommittee will be formed.
In the, because of World War I introduced, emergency competition (noodcompetitie) Ajax will play in division West B together with VRC (merger between Volharding and RAP), AFC, VVA, Blauw-Wit, De Spartaan, Military, DEC, HFC II and HFC Haarlem II. The noodcompetitie means that there will be no pormotion or relegaion. The team of the Military withdraws from the competion halfway and all played matched are removed from the results. Ajax had not played against the Military, as the match scheduled for November 15 1914 was postponed.
The NVB, via a committee, does an investigation into payment of players by Ajax via too exorbitant expense compensation. Nothing is known about the result of this investigation.
Interesting enough Quick from The Hague, who end in the latest spot in the first division west, invited Ajax to play officious promotion relegation matches after Ajax has become the champion. No promotion rights are associated with these matches. Ajax wints away and plays a draw at home.
Ajax plays many friendly matches at the end of the season, and it is not uncommon they play two matches on the same day, in which case one of the matches will be played by the second team.
This season there is only very limited information available about lineups and goalscorer, and the times information is available, we observed inconsistencies between different newspaper reports.
