Summary

Joop van Dort first came into action for Ajax 1 during season 1912-13 as substitute player from the second squad. It took until season 1916-17 before Van Dort became a fixture in the first squad, mostly as the right central attacker. This way he had his contribution during the (second) promotion to the first division and Ajax' first domestic championship. Van Dort was very efficient in front of the goal, scoring 85 goals in 150 official matches. In the season Ajax became domestic champion for the second time, 1918-19, Van Dort scored 30 goals in 29 official matches. Van Dort kept playing for Ajax until season 1921-22 after which he moved to Arnhem and started playing for Vitesse.
