Ajax plays against JOS

Now that JOS Watergraafsmeer has beaten Noordijk, the opponent of Ajax in the second round of the Dutch cup competition is known:JOS Watergraafsmeer. JOS Watergraafsmeer was created whenJOS and Watergraafsmeer merged in 1995. Rinus Michels started his coaching career at JOS, and when he came to Ajax he took Ruud Suurendonk with him. Amongst others also Fred Grim had a past with JOS before he came to Ajax. Also on the pitch JOS and Ajax are no strangers. Besides various friendly matches Ajax and JOS also met for the Dutch cup before, on January 1, 1959 Ajax beat JOS in De Meer with 8-3. Coincidentally in that season in the next round of the Dutch cup Ajax played Watergraafsmeer, a club they also faced in the Dutch cup in season 1943-44. However this Watergraafsmeer was not the same as the club that merged with JOS.
